I wanted to thank the dozens of people and centers who helped me set up one of the first cardiothoracic programs in Uganda and Ethiopia which included trauma and autotransfusion.
Also, the donated 540's went all over the world supporting H1N1 V-V ECMO. In fact all 11 modules are in use- with one doing a VAD the day it arrived in the hospital- first capability. Including the one 520 module- a venerable unit, as back up (as expected, mint condition cared for by skilled perfusionists).
If anyone has any Dideco cell savers, like the Compact Advanced, and any 540 components, please let me know- and note if I can't use them , another mission will get them. I just clean, inspect and if need be repair (old OJT biomed skills!).
I coordinate shipping and costs (I pay for that) - and if needed by your center or perfusion company, will try to pay for the equipment- at least what a reseller would pay- no likely more because I know what it's worth.
4 autotransfusion units to Serbia- a new pediatric program which is now doing complex procedures with autotransfusion
2 to Egypt, along with a neuro-stereotaxis system doing pediatrics- now neuro and CTS South America- needs are considerable.
If you are associated with a mission and need something, post your request and drop a note for me- I'll do what I can for you.
I will be in Japan this next week at the Japanese SCTS meeting, and meeting with a group to help set up a Phillipines based misson center.
And never forget the Perfusion Without Borders resource through Amsect. This is, as it should be, a key coordination center.
We give a lot of energy, but we know we can give just a bit more when the need arises. Jeffrey P. Sites CCP, Monday, February 15, 2010 |
